HOW TO MAKE PHYLLO TUBES (WITH PURCHASED MOLD)

 

Thaw one roll of fillo dough, following thawing instructions on package.

Preheat oven to 350ºF.

Unroll and cover the fillo pastry sheets with a damp towel or plastic wrap to prevent drying out.

Place one sheet of fillo on a cutting board and lightly coat with cooking spray. Layer and repeat with 3 more sheets. (Recipe or personal preference may substitute brushing with melted butter, olive oil or egg wash.)

Coat baking tube with cooking spray.

Cut layered fillo in strips to fit tube. Wrap fillo strips around tube, and coat with cooking spray. Repeat with additional tubes.

Reroll unused fillo sheets and follow storing instructions on package.

Place tubes at least 1″ apart on ungreased cookie sheet or baking pan. Bake about 10 minutes until fillo is golden brown.

Remove from oven and carefully remove from tubes after 2-3 minutes. Cool completely and add desired fillings.

 

 

 

HOW TO MAKE PHYLLO TUBES (WITH ALUMINUM FOIL)

Thaw one roll of fillo dough, following thawing instructions on package.

Preheat oven to 350ºF.

Cut aluminum foil about 10″ x 5″.  Fold in half lengthwise to form a 5″ x 5″ square.  Roll foil up forming a tube.  Adjust foil size based on desired tube size.

Unroll and cover the fillo pastry sheets with a damp towel or plastic wrap to prevent drying out.

Place one sheet of fillo on a cutting board and lightly coat with cooking spray. Layer and repeat with 3 more sheets. (Recipe or personal preference may substitute brushing with melted butter, olive oil or egg wash.)  Cut layered fillo in half lengthwise and widthwise.

Coat aluminum foil tube with cooking spray.

Place mold at one end of the fillo and roll to the end. Lightly coat with cooking spray. Repeat with additional tubes.

TIP: Do not wrap fillo too tightly around the tube or removal of the mold will be difficult.

Reroll unused fillo sheets and follow storing instructions on package.

Remove from oven and carefully remove from forms after 2-3 minutes. Cool completely and add desired fillings.
